In early American history, government positions were available to the highest bidder, and often doled out as favors from elected officials. Corruption was rampant. The gutting of the civil service in 2024 has parallels to Andrew Jackson's own firing of thousands of federal workers, and his instituting of the "Spoils System." Aired March 8th, 2025.
